Corporate History
The story of Battye, Wimpenny and Dawson began in Huddersfield in 1852. Stanley Battye established a stockbroking service for local investors and William Ernest Wimpenny and Abraham Dawson founded their own stockbroking firms in Yorkshire over the course of the following fifty years.
During the 1970's the firms of Battye, Wimpenny and Dawson merged to form BWD and in 1988 the holding company, BWD Securities, floated on the London Stock Exchange. The head office is based in Leeds.
In July 2004 the company changed its name from BWD Securities PLC to Rensburg plc.
In May 2005 Rensburg acquired Carr Sheppards Crosthwaite Limited. To reflect the larger group, the parent company changed its name to Rensburg Sheppards plc.
